COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

The Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Department works to detect, prevent, and control infectious and environmentally related illnesses of public health significance.  In addition, CDC conducts surveillance activities in order to monitor new emerging infections and communicate reportable diseases to both the Tennessee Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.  When deemed necessary, investigations are conducted to pinpoint the source of disease and prevent dangerous outbreaks.  Part of our mission is also to provide health education services on how Sullivan County residents can protect themselves from illnesses and environmental risks.
