The Health Promotions program focuses on the Healthy People Goals. These goals focus on attaining a high quality, healthy life. The Health Promotions Grant strives to live a healthy lifestyle by promoting healthy behaviors across all life stages.

Healthy People aims to reach four overarching goals:

  1. Primary prevention for preventable diseases, disability, injury, and premature death.
  2. Achieve health quality, eliminate health disparities, and improve the health of all groups.
  3. Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all.
  4. Promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors.

Obesity, nutrition, and physical education are an important focus in the Health Promotions Program.

Although obesity is a leading cause of death in the United States, it is 100% preventable and it can be reversed!

Some of the healthy changes you can make are:

  • Increasing your physical activity
  • Decreasing your calorie intake
  • Controlling portions of food

Replace high calorie/ sugar filled drinks with WATER! In addition, get plenty of rest, manage your stress, and develop a positive attitude! For more information, you can visit: http:/www.cdc.gov/obesity/ and http:/stateofobesity.org/states/tn/.
