Women, Infant & Children (WIC)

WIC is a federally funded program serving approximately 7.6 million Women, Infants and Children nationwide including 45% of all infants born in the United States.

WIC provides...

  • pregnant women, mothers who have delivered and their children with vouchers for milk, cheese, eggs, juice, peanut butter, iron fortified cereals and infant formula. These vouchers are redeemable at local grocery stores.
  • nutrition education designed to stress the importance of healthy eating habits in prenatal and postpartum women as well as children.
  • breastfeeding guidance including instruction, support and necessary supplies.
  • smoking cessation assistance to women who desire to stop smoking. This may be done during pregnancy or after delivery.

WIC offers…

  • immunizations. If immunizations are needed, they can be scheduled to coincide with WIC visits. This eliminates the need for additional appointments.
  • lead screening and testing. A questionnaire is completed for lead risks. If any risks are found, testing may be done during the WIC visit.
